This senior portrait session at the Houston Arboretum was such a delight! I love senior sessions because they remind me of the expansive feeling that comes with graduating. The world awaits you, and it feels so freeing to envision what life will be like when you’re able to capitalize on all the skills and knowledge you’ve developed so far.

Her family contacted me to set up a last minute senior shoot, because her previous shoot with another photographer was canceled. She was leaving for out-of-state college in TWO DAYS. We jumped on the phone to talk about location options and made sure we could document this special time in her life. The forecast predicted rain, but we kept our session, knowing that Texas weather changes so quickly. We only experienced a couple raindrops, but I think it made the session more exciting and beautiful that way!

This senior was looking for somewhere lush and green to shoot at, without having to travel outside of Houston- I instantly thought of The Arboretum! It’s easily one of my favorite places to shoot within the city of Houston. It looks beautiful all-year round!

This lovely lady is the first of her family to go to out of state for college, and you can imagine how proud her family was. They were beaming when they stepped out of the car! It was such a pleasure to photograph her and get to know her family. It left me feeling all teary-eyed to see the love her family has for her.

Because she was moving into a dorm, she wouldn’t be able to bring her beloved fur baby. Documenting these last moments with her pet was important to her, so I’m so glad we got to capture them together before she left!
